Cottage Village Awarded $500,000 Grant

SquareOne Villages has been awarded a Housing Improvement Plan (HIP) grant by Lane County for the construction of Cottage Village in Cottage Grove, Oregon.  The grant of $500,000 will provide for all of the infrastructure costs and for construction of approximately half of the 13 tiny homes ranging from 192 to 288 square feet each.  The Cottage Village Coalition (CVC), a group of local citizens, has been working for nearly three years on the project.  A grant from Meyer Memorial Trust enabled the group to purchase the property for the project in 2016.  Two additional grants of $100,000 each from the Presbyterian Women’s Association and the Edwards Mother Earth Foundation along with the HIP grant and other fund raising efforts have now raised nearly 80% of the projected costs of the $1.3 million dollar project. CVC Chair Bruce Kelsh said of the grant, “Our group has been working long and hard to achieve this vision.  We couldn’t be more excited by this affirmation of our work by our county leaders.”
