MODERATOR: The Moderator is the highest elected office of Presbytery (G 9.0200). Moderates Presbytery meetings first year and chairs Council the second year. In consultation with the Nominating Committee makes appointments to vacancies. Back

REGIONAL VICE MODERATORS: The Presbytery has four vice moderators, one for each region, each serving a two year term. Each vice moderator coordinates events within their region and works closely with the General Presbyter of the region. S/He represents the Presbytery at installations, ordinations and other events; and provides nominees for the Nominating Committee. Back

THE SUPPORT COMMITTEES: These four committees are new to our Presbytery structure and have the responsibility for keeping alive the particular Vision that animates their focus. These Visions were adopted by Presbytery in June 2003. The Support Committees work with task groups and committees within their areas. Back

CONGREGATIONAL SUPPORT: The committee plans, develops, and implements efforts designed to encourage and support congregations to grow in their particular ministries. Major efforts include assisting congregations to develop their distinctive ministries, partnering with congregations in leadership development and evangelism, revitalizing exiting congregations, and developing new churches. Back

PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT: The committee plans, designs, and implements efforts related to supporting and caring for our Ministers of Word and Sacrament and a congregation's other professional staff. The committee is responsible for creating and implementing self directed peer support systems for ministers, their spouses, and families; developing and implementing a support system for retired ministers, their spouses, widows, and widowers; orienting and integrating ministers new to the Presbytery; providing opportunities for spiritual and personal growth of ministers; and providing opportunities for professional development of certified Christian educators and commissioned lay pastors. RELATIONAL SUPPORT: The work of this committee focuses on creating resources and programs to develop supportive relationships within the Presbytery and with other sisters and brothers in Christ. Efforts center around developing and implementing ways to create and celebrate relationships at the regional, Presbytery, denominational and ecumenical levels; providing opportunities for creative and varied worship, theological reflection, and spiritual nurture at Presbytery events; and communicating effectively with one another. MISSION SUPPORT: This committee is charged with initiating, encouraging, and supporting mission beyond the capabilities of the local congregation through efforts such as identifying, evaluating, and implementing programs and events that require and are best served by Presbytery management and resources; discovering new areas of need for mission throughout the Presbytery; facilitating and advocating for program and mission partnerships between congregations and/or regions; and ministering in partnership with people who are oppressed, marginalized and distressed with a particular attention to racism. COMMITTEE ON MINISTRY: The Presbytery has four regional Committees on Ministry that carry out the responsibilities outlined in the Book of Order. (Need to be clergy or elder) Back

NOMINATING COMMITTEE: This committee is responsible for soliciting nominations from churches and regions in the presbytery, and providing a representative slate of nominees for elected committees of Presbytery. Back

PERSONNEL & ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE: This committee develops and implements Presbytery personnel policies, oversees and reviews the work of Presbytery staff in Cascades. Back

COMMITTEE ON PREPARATION FOR MINISTRY: This committee follows a process outlined in the Book of Order for the care of inquirers for the ministry and oversight of candidates for ordination to minister of Word and Scrament. It receives minister members from other denominations, and appoints readers of ordination exams. Back

COMMITTEE ON REPRESENTATION: The committee advises Presbytery on committee and board membership to assure principles of participation and inclusiveness, and to ensure fair and effective representation; serves as an advocate for racial/ethnic members, women, different age groups, and people with disabilities. Back

BOARD OF TRUSTEES: This Board is the Presbytery Corporation. The Trustees manage the corporate, legal, financial, and property affairs of Presbytery including: property sales and purchases, loans and encumbrances, leases, fiscal management, insurance, and legal matters. Back

WESTMINSTER FOUNDATION: This committee develops, supports and supervises campus ministry in six universities and colleges within Presbytery. Back

PERMANENT JUDICIAL COMMISSION: The Commission exists to administer the constitutional provisions of the Rules of Discipline. (Need to be clergy or elders.) Back
