This event, “God ... in the Midst of the City: What a Small Congregation Can Do”  is sponsored by PUN  – the Presbyterian Urban Network  – our eight small urban Presbyterian congregations
on the Portland East Side.

This is an opportunity to explore – in real life – the impact of the Psalmist’s words:  “God is in the midst of the city, it shall not be moved; God will help it when the morning dawns.”  (46:5)  It is for all members of our PUN congregations and all beyond who have a passion for ministry in the city.

The Rev. Doug Bailey is the President of the Center for Urban Ministry at the Divinity School of Wake Forest College,  Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

For many years, he was Rector of Calvary Episcopal Church in downtown Memphis, Tennessee.  During this time the congregation establish ten separate non-profit ministries connected to Calvary Church.

With over 25 year of experience in urban ministry, Doug Bailey comes to us with a wealth of experience and information on what it means to be an urban congregation.
